Big John Flatt to Kimberly Road

Info

This scenic drive is along a dirt road that runs north near the ridge of the Tushars with many areas being above the tree line. It has some great panoramic views of the range and out over southern Utah. The route runs roughly 20 miles up to Hwy. I-70 at Fremont Indian State Park.

Directions:
NOTE: These back roads have much to offer sight seeing and exploring, but they can be dangerous if you wander too far off the main road. From Main Street in Beaver, head east on Hwy 153 for approx. 16.3 miles where you will turn left onto Sunset Dr. When the road forks in .3 miles, stay to the left which takes you onto Big John Flat. In approx. 4 miles stay to the right at the fork. 3.3 miles later, the road will curve around and become Beaver Creek Rd. There are not any signs to indicate this, but continue on for approx. 3.8 more miles till you come to a T in the road. Go to the right, which will keep you on Beaver Creek Rd. In another 3.8 miles, Beaver Creek Rd. will turn off to the right. Do not take it, just continue straight for another .7 miles where it will meet up with Kimberly Rd. and you will take a sharp left. Approx. 1.9 miles later, Kimberly Rd. curves around and you will want to stay to the right. NOTE: If you want to check out some old building, take the road to the left, but be respectful of any No Trespassing signs. Continue for 2.3 miles where the road splits. Take either fork, because it will re-join in .3 miles. NOTE: If you take the left fork, Grasshoppermine Rd. will be on the left. Half a mile down this road you will find some more old buildings to check out, but once again, be respectful of any No Trespassing signs. When the road combine again, continue for .7 miles where you will pass Tip Top Rd. on the left; stay to the right. NOTE: In another .7 miles there will be another road on your left with some old buildings along the ravine on the left. Please be respectful of No Trespassing signs. Approx. 5.3 miles after Tip Top Rd. the road will slightly curve to the left, stay to the right. In .4 miles you will pass under I-70. Continue for 2.5 miles where you will come to the on ramp for I-70.
